Level 2 Intermediate Club Coach

This is an Accredited Athletics Coach course designed to develop fundamental skills and drills, and understanding of the basic technical models for the events required for participation in athletics at club and school competition.

The delivery of this course is a one day face-to-face session combined with 3 online 90 minute Zoom Meetings.

The event groups covered include: • Sprints & relaysHurdlesMiddle & Long Distance up to 5000m – excluding steeple chase • Jumps – excluding pole vault • Throws – excluding hammer • Race-walking.

  • Developing the Skills of Coaching

  • Analysis and Evaluation

  • Warm Ups and Recovery

  • Conditioning and Circuit Training

  • 100m and 200m

  • 400m

  • Block Starts

  • 800m and 1500m

  • Sprint Hurdles

  • Intermediate Hurdles

  • Relays

  • Training Principles and Components of Fitness

  • Biomotor Abilities

  • Coaching Long Distance

  • Shot Put, Javelin and Discus

  • Long Jump and Triple Jump

  • High Jump

  • Race Walking

Start Date: Sunday 17 October.

Module 1&2

Date: Sunday 17 October (online Teams meeting delivery)

Time: 5.00pm-6.30pm

Module 4&5

Date: Sunday 24 October (online Teams meeting delivery)

Time: 5.00pm-6.30pm

Module 3 & 6

Date: Saturday 7 November (face-to-face delivery)

Time: 8.30am - 4:00pm

Athletics ACT members: Participants must be a member of an Athletics ACT club.

Non-members: Participants are not members of an Athletics ACT club

PRE REQUISITES: Level 1 Community Athletics Coach, Level 1 Run Leader, or Level 2 Intermediate Recreational Running Coach.
