The Athletics in the ACT Festival of Athletics takes place on the weekend of Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 January and includes both the RunACT: Stromlo 5k and the Bill Jacob Shield ACT V Rivernia Track and Field Competition.A finalist in the 2021 CBR Sports Awards for Event Excellence, this weekend full of athletics is sure to go to another level in 2022, so don't miss out on being part of the fun!

RunACT: Stromlo 5k

Saturday 8th January

The Stromlo 5k event returns for its second edition, taking place over a smooth 1km lap loop (with the removal of the hairpin bend from 2021), it presents the perfect opportunity to participate set a new 5km PB early in the new year. There are races on offer for the whole family including Junior races over 1km, 2km and 3km, a Community 5km race, and an Elite 5km race where you can watch some of the best distance runners in the country ply their trade in a fun, laid back, carnival style atmosphere!

The Bill Jacob Shield - ACT v NSW Riverina

Sunday 9th January

The ACT v NSW Rivernia track and field competition, The Bill Jacob Shield, also returns for it's second edition, with the ACT having emerged victorious in the first installment. A One Athletics event, where Little Athletes from U9 and above can participate with senior athletes and masters athletes. WIth a DJ and race commentary in a similarly fun and carnival atmoshphere, this is another event that the whole family will enjoy!
