This Meet is a Cateory E World Ranking Competition Meet for U20 & Open events ONLY.

 

COMPETITION INFORMATION

Eligibility

To be eligible to enter these Championships, the athlete must be a registered and financial athlete with Capital Athletics, another State/Territory athletics body affiliated with Athletics Australia or, if a visiting overseas athlete, with their own national athletics body. 

The minimum age for on-line entry is Under 18 (ie 16 years of age as at 31 December 2025). 

Registered athletes younger than the Under 18 age group (ie 15 years of age or younger as at 31 December 2025) can lodge an Expression of Interest through the Capital Athletics office (competition@capitalathletics.au). The Expression of Interest must state the event/s that the athlete wishes to enter and the verifiable best performance for that event achieved since 1st January 2024.  This performance will be checked against the current AA national entry standards.  If the entry is then accepted, the athlete will be advised and they will then be sent an invoice for the entry.  Expressions of Interest must be lodged no later than 16:00 (EDST) on Wednesday 8th January 2025

Athletes can enter older age group events (eg an Under 20 athlete can enter the Open 200 metres) but Capital Athletics reserves the right to move the athlete back to their nominal age group event where there are significant Open age group athletes entered to that event. 

Entry

The entry fee for these Championships is $30.00 per event entered with a maximum entry fee of $90.00. 
 Entry to the U20 & Open Championships is by the On-Line entry system only.  Please note that entries submitted via the On-Line system must be paid by credit/debit card. If the entry fee is not paid by this date, the entry will be deleted.

There is no on-day entry for these Championships.
 
Entries close at 4:00pm (AEST) on Wednesday 15th January 2025(No entries will be accepted after this time under any circumstances).  Do not leave your entry to the last minute and please note that the Capital Athletics office hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm only.  Finally, the ACT is under Daylight Saving time. 

Start lists

All Athletes must check the start lists and final timetable which will be posted on the Capital Athletics website after the close of entries. It is each athlete’s responsibility to check the start time of their event closer to the competition date.

Check-In

All athletes are required to check-in for EACH event at least 60 mins before the scheduled start time of the event (note: this is not the start time of your heat, but the start time of the event group). Please refer to the final timetable as times vary depending on some events.

Competition shoes

World Athletics regulations for athletic shoes will be enforced for World Ranking events only. Shoes can be checked for compliance here.

Open 100 and 200 Metre Events

Preliminary Rounds - Open 100 & 200 Metres

Where the number of entries to the Open 100 and 200 metre events exceeds 64 athletes, a preliminary qualification round will be held. All athletes except the 16 fastest entrants for each event, based on their nominated and confirmed seed times, shall participate in the preliminary qualification round. The meet regulations and the start lists shall indicate the number of athletes who will progress to Round 1 with the 16 fastest entrants.

Please note that, in accordance with the Championship Rules of Competition, the nominated best performance has to have been achieved on or after 1 January 2024.  Nominated performances are currently being reviewed and, where necessary, will be adjusted to meet this rule.


10,000 Metre Race Walk - Qualifying Performance

To be eligible to enter the 10,000 metre Race Walk, an athlete must have met the AA qualifying performance at a recognised competition held on or after 1 October 2022.  These performances are:
