This is the nomination portal for the ACT Team to be selected for the Australian Little Athletics Championships (ALAC).

ALAC is a two-day event held every year with all States and Territories represented. It encompasses the Australian Teams Championships for Under 13 athletes and the Australian Combined Event Championships for Under 15 athletes and in 2021 Multi-Class athletes will be included in state teams for the first time! Although recognition is given to individual place-getters, the emphasis is on team performance and the main focus is on the team point scores.

The proposed venue for ALAC 2021 is Melbourne, Lakeside Stadium, and it is scheduled for Friday 23rd April and Saturday 24th April. The team will travel to Melbourne on Wednesday 21st April and will return to Canberra on Sunday 25th April.

Events contested

Under 13 Boys & Girls: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 80m hurdles, 200m hurdles, 1500m walk, 4 x 100m team relay, long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put, discus and javelin.

Under 15 Boys (Combined Events): 100m Hurdles, Discus, Long Jump, 100m, High Jump, Javelin, 800m

Under 15 Girls (Combined Events): 90m Hurdles, Shot Put, High Jump, 200m, Javelin, Long Jump, 800m Two of the boys and two of the girls will also combine to form a 4 x 100m relay team.

Team Management

The 2021 ACTLAA Team Management will consist of Andrew Towndrow as Team Manager, Ruud van Scheppingen as Head Coach, Olivia Carah as Assistant Coach, and Cathy Hogg as Assistant Team Manager. Joining the team in Melbourne will be Senior Participation & Development Officer, Matthew Wade.

Important Information

  • Athletes will be selected on athletic performance
  • Athletes must have completed a nomination form by the required date to be considered for selection. The nomination form for Multi Class (Para) athletes should include the name of the Carer who will be in attendance with the athlete at and during ALAC (if required).
  • Nominations for ALAC will open in February and close on Thursday 11th March.
  • All U13 athletes must compete in the ACT U9-U13 State Championships and U15 athletes except for Multi Class (Para) must compete in the ACT Combined Event Championships Heptathlon for Little Athletics in order to be eligible for selection
  • Special consideration may be given to athletes who miss the ACT U9-U13 State Championships or ACT Combined Event Championship through illness/injury and have a medical certificate indicating they will be fit to prepare for and compete at ALAC.
  • The Selection Panel will have sole discretion on the selection of athletes to represent the ACT at the ALAC. The Selection Panel may consider athlete performance at all ACT Carnivals.
