Final Wrap Up of the 2024/25 Capital Athletics Open & Under 20 Championships

The 2024/25 Capital Athletics Open & U20s Championships delivered three thrilling days of high-performance athletics at the AIS Athletics Track. Records tumbled as Lachie Kennedy broke the Australian 60m record twice, while Para athlete Summer Giddings achieved a potential world record in the T35 long jump. ACT stars shone, with standout performances from Sierra Jaques, Misha Van Scheppingen, and Tim Fraser.

Capital Athletics Welcomes Two New Directors

We’re excited to announce the appointment of Karen Billington and Vanessa Low to the Capital Athletics Board. Following a strong nomination process, both bring outstanding experience and a passion for athletics. Karen, a dedicated community sport advocate, and Vanessa, a Paralympic champion, will help shape the future of our sport. We look forward to their leadership in growing and strengthening athletics in the ACT!

Leadership Transition at Capital Athletics

Capital Athletics is pleased to announce a leadership change. On 21 January 2024, Tim Christie stepped down as President after serving since the organisation's inception, uniting Little Athletics ACT and Athletics ACT and establishing strong governance. The Board has elected James Lennane as President until the next AGM. James, a respected athletics coach and leader, aims to enhance connections and opportunities across the community, continuing to strengthen athletics in the ACT.
